Get to know our Colorado Podiatrists and staff

Our doctors and staff believe in taking the time to listen and understand the needs of all of our patients. We take a personal interest in helping our patients overcome their foot and ankle problems. Dr. Daniel J. Hatch

Dr. Hatch’s number-one goal is offering patients improved mobility so they can better their health. After receiving his doctorate in podiatric medicine from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Dr. Hatch began specializing in foot and ankle reconstruction and pediatric clubfoot.

A 30-year resident of northern Colorado, Dr. Hatch actively participates in a number of sports. He is also an amateur photographer. Dr. Hatch has served as the past president of both the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the Humane Society of Weld County.

Dr. Mike Vaardahl

Dr. Vaardahl became a podiatrist because he enjoys meeting people of diverse backgrounds, and helping them relieve their foot and ankle pain and suffering. An avid runner and tennis player, he wants everyone to stay active and pursue their goals and passions. He received his doctorate in podiatric medicine from Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida, and now specializes in diabetic foot care and wound care.

For the past 10 years, Dr. Vaardahl has called northern Colorado home. He is involved in the Greeley Rotary Club, and recently served as the chair of consumer education for the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. When not hard at work, Dr. Vaardahl can be found playing with his two young boys and his black lab.

Dr. Stacy M. Atherton

Dr. Atherton received her doctorate in podiatric medicine from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She then spent four years of residency training at Temple University Hospital, specializing in reconstructive surgery and foot and ankle trauma. In her free time, she can be found outside with her family – skiing, waterskiing, swimming, running, and climbing.

Dr. Peter Hartlove

Dr. Peter Hartlove has been serving the foot and ankle care needs of the Longmont community and surrounding areas since 1981. Over the 24 years of his practice, he has cared for men, women and children of all ages and all types of foot and ankle problems.

A native of East Lansing, Michigan, Dr. Hartlove received his BS in Zoology from the University of Michigan and his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. Upon completion of his residency and 2 years of hands-on clinical experience, he founded Mountain View Foot and Ankle Clinic, PC, the first full-time private podiatric practice in Longmont since the early 1970s. Over six years ago, Dr. Hartlove enhanced his busy practice with a new, expanded office in order to provide the most efficient care for his patients in a comfortable, private environment.

Cheryl Angello

Medical assistant and scheduler
Cheryl considers Foot & Ankle Center of Northern Colorado her home away from home – and the most pleasant working environment she’s ever experienced. Originally from California, Cheryl loves the outdoors with hiking and watersports topping her list of favorite activities. Additionally, she enjoys gardening, home decorating, cooking, and reading.

Debbie Bierma

Billing and coding specialist
For more than 21 years, Debbie has been a key member of our staff. Currently, she handles all of our billing and coding, staying current on changes in health care and insurance. Debbie loves being active and is an avid hiker, biker, gardener, and exerciser. When not enjoying the outdoors, she scrapbooks for her two grandsons.

Meloney Kerksiek

Receptionist and surgery scheduler for Dr. Hatch
Meloney enjoys working for two doctors who truly care about their patients and staff. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Northern Colorado. When she’s not hard at work, Meloney plays hard – with her husband and son. She hikes, fishes, reads, and dances whenever time allows.

Shelly Korell

Financial and office manager
Shelly joined Foot & Ankle Center of Northern Colorado because she knew that she would be working in an environment where people come first. Taking that observation to heart, Shelly ensures everyone who comes into contact with our office is treated with respect. With three children actively involved in school activities and sports, she spends much of her free time cheering on the sidelines. She also enjoys cooking, reading, and walking.

Nicki Pfenning

Medical assistant
Nicki truly enjoys meeting new patients and caring for their foot and ankle needs. According to Nicki, the best part of working at Foot & Ankle Center of Northern Colorado is the camaraderie that the staff shares. Everyone has the same goal – providing the best possible care for each and every patient. Her hobbies include painting, hiking, and cooking. 

Laura Schiel

Receptionist in our Greeley Office
Laura enjoys working as a receptionist in the Greeley office as she feels it is a family friendly business with great doctors and an incredible staff. Laura has an Associate’s Degree in technology from Westwood College of Technology. She enjoys camping and boating with her family and huskies. Laura also finds time to DJ on the side.

Amy Stark

Medical assistant
Amy has a bachelor’s degree in sociology and family studies from the University of Northern Colorado. She loves working with the patients at Foot & Ankle Center of Northern Colorado, and truly enjoys being a part of a team that’s focused on quality patient care. When Amy isn’t working or studying, she’s playing with her animals and shopping.

Kim Hernandez

Medical Assistant and Scheduler for Dr. Vaardahl
Kim received her certification as a medical assistant from Aims Community College. She enjoys getting to know and help the patients who turn to Foot & Ankle Center of Northern Colorado for all their foot and ankle needs. When not at work, Kim enjoys cooking, watching movies, and all the outdoor adventure Colorado has to offer – hiking, biking, golfing, and fishing. She is also fluent in Spanish.

Karen Freytag

Receptionist/Office Coordinator for our Longmont Office
Karen studied at the Northern Virginia Community College before joining Foot & Ankle Center of Northern Colorado. She enjoys meeting patients and making office visits pleasant. When she's not working Karen gardens, walks her dogs and travels to exotic destinations with her husband.

Lillian Duran

Receptionist in our Longmont Office
Lillian is a people person and loves the patients at Foot & Ankle Center of Northern Colorado. Her hobbies include outdoor activities like fishing, camping and hiking.

Anna joined our practice in Longmont as a Certified Surgical Technologist. She enjoys working for Foot & Ankle Center of Northern Colorado because every person is treated like family; with respect, dignity, and love. When Anna is not working she enjoys swimming, sking, reading, and cooking with her husband and son.

Crystal moved to the “Mile High City” from Portland Oregon. She enjoys being a mom, hiking, and working out. She is hoping she will get the chance to add snowboarding to her list this year. Crystal enjoys working for Foot & Ankle Center of Northern Colorado because it has allowed her to meet the many wonderful people who reside in Colorado.
